D-A-A-S
“D-A-A-S” (DESKTOP AS A SERVICE) which is main goal of the SIX.ONE project. In the module, the user to allowed to create his virtual machine and he is allowed to create that virtual machine according to his usage and purpose by selecting the appropriate Configurations.
- The Virtual machines are named as “Workspaces” in this SIX.ONE. Workspace helps you eliminate the complexity in managing hardware inventory, OS versions and patches, which helps simplify your desktop delivery strategy.
- The Customer can Create Workspaces with appropriate configurations and Customer can assign it to the Users.
- Another important feature of Customer is to create and manage several users who will be completely under his control. So, for the users The Customer can create multiple virtual machines which is technically known as Workspaces.
- The first module which we have from the Customer end is named as DAAS.
- And the first sub-module under the DAAS is the "Workspace".
WORKSPACE
The Workspace is the platform, which allows the Customer to create Workspaces, also Customer is provided with several option to manage the created workspaces. All the existing Workspaces will be displayed in the grid page of this sub-module and Customer will have several options to access the control the created virtual machines The Customer can several operations like Start, Stop, Restart, Refresh and Export the data of Workspace.
Features of Workspace:
Screen Share: Screen share is a process where sharing one screen with one or more devices.
Session Recording: Session recording is a process of recording the activities performed by the user on connecting to the Workspace.
When the user connects to the workspace and clicks on Start recording, the Screen recording will be started. and Recorded file will be saved in the file share.
Terminal Server: If Users are assigned to workspace, then they can access the company resources from anywhere and from any device. It works only for the Shared type workspace and Server-based machines.
Agent Notifications: SIX.ONE provides agent notification. And notifies the user related to agent end activities.
REMOTE APP
Remote App is a secured access to the specific applications to the specific user through workspace. Customer can also assign certain applications to DAAS licensed users to certain workspace instead of giving the access to remote desktop programs.
Collection should be created with set of applications and associated to workspace to access the remote apps.
IMAGES
A custom image contains only the OS, software, and settings for the Workspace. A custom bundle is a combination of both that custom image and the hardware from which a Workspace can be launched. After you create a custom image, you can build a custom bundle that combines the custom image and the underlying compute and storage configuration that you select. You can then specify this custom bundle when you launch new Workspaces to ensure that the new Workspaces have the same consistent configuration.
ACCESS CONTROL
Access control is to define how User/Customer can use VM and it's features. Example By using Access control, Customer can restrict users from Changing DESKTOP icons, Hiding RECYCLE BIN, Locking TASK BAR AND MENU BAR etc.
STORAGE
Storage is basically to save FILE SHARE and Roaming profiles based content
VM uses disks as a place to store an operating system, applications, and data in SIX.ONE.
All virtual machines have at least two disks- a Windows operating system disk and a temporary disk. Both the operating system disk and the image are virtual hard disks (VHDs) stored in an Storage account. An File share is a convenient place for cloud applications to write their logs, metrics, and crash dumps. Logs can be written by the application instances via the File REST API, and developers can access them by mounting the file share on their local machine.
SESSIONS
Sessions refers to a limited time of communication or activities on system.
Sessions are used to have a Data for VM when connected and disconnected. And the history for the VM usage.
POLICY
Organizational policies can be created for workspace, file share.
Workspace in terms of maintaining secured connection, monitoring the session termination incase of terminating the idle, active or disconnected sessions and scheduling the start and stop of instances along with scaling of pooled instances.
Fileshare Backup policy to manage and protect the data in the cloud and reduces the hassle and cost of maintaining on-premises backup solutions.
DEVICE CENTER
Manages the site, device related data and custom Automation.
o Sites- Used mainly for workspace creation. Using sites and workspace ID, device will be created on connecting to workspace.
o Devices- Displays the details of workspaces like subscription, sites, location, last logged in user and status of license and devices.
o Custom automation is like a task scheduler, helping the end user to run the script and get the outcome in the client's machine.
SOFTWARE
Software Installation under SIX.ONE provides pre-defined software list provided from Chocolatey package manager as Public software and also software of users choice can be published as Private software on software menu which manages and automates software installation on workspace and devices.
JOBS
Jobs represents the data of background tasks that are run for any actions performed on the resources. Ex: Creation of workspace, fileshare, remote app, actions on workspace, remote app, RDGateway etc. The customer can track the tasks performed for any actions with respect to the time taken to complete each task.
SETTINGS
SIX.ONE is providing the SETTINGS platform to provide various features to manage the hybrid cloud environment and windows domain.
